The Chinatown Film Project

Submit your short film to be part of the Chinatown Film Project!

The Chinatown Film Project of the Museum of Chinese in America will be one of the museum's inaugural exhibitions when it opens in its new space (designed by Maya Lin) in New York City in early 2009. The project is about re-seeing Chinatown through the eyes of filmmakers, and re-approaching Chinatown as a place to create and experience art. Short films may be shot on any format, in any genre, and be about anything Chinatown-related.

The project is in partnership with Flimmaker Magazine, IFP/New York, and Tribeca Film Institute and features directors such as Wayne Wang, Miguel Arteta, Jem Cohen, So Yong Kim, Sam Pollard, and Jonas Mekas. In addition to being part of the museum's exhibition, films will also screen via Tribeca Film Institute, Film Independent, and of course CAAM, and in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai, and select films will get additional exposure as well.
